In French, which is the correct spelling: stocker or stoquer ?

Answer   Submitted by Answiki on 06/22/2022 at 06:51:51 PM UTC

In French, stocker is a verb (borrowed from English) which means to store, to stockpile, etc. It should be written:  stocker (to store).

  • From this comes the past participle:  stocké
  • and the associated noun: un stock

For exemple :

Il faut stocker plus de nourriture en prévision de la tempête. <=> We need to store more food in anticipation of the storm.

J'ai stocké toutes les marchandises dans le hangar. <=> I stored all the goods in the shed.

J'ai refait un stock de bois pour cet hiver. <=> I have stocked up on wood for this winter.

Note: stoquer is an obsolete french technical term formerly used in sugar refineries.
