Why it smells when I fart?
The large intestine is home to billions of bacteria that feed on food that our body has not been able to digest. These bacteria produce gases that are trapped in the intestine. These gases contain hydrogen sulfide (which smells like rotten eggs), indole and skatole (which smell like fecal matter). These three gases smell bad and are expelled, either during flatulence or with the feces.
